There are so many activity holidays on offer here at Activity Breaks that it can be hard to know just where to start. Many people like the idea of taking activity holidays as they provide an exciting alternative to traditional and, often, boring holidays where little in the way of entertainment is on offer.
Taking an activity holiday is a great way to try out a hobby and meet new people. If you take an activity break with your family, it is a great way of bonding and making happy memories together.
Choosing the right activity holiday for you is not as hard as it may seem. If there is an activity you have always enjoyed or have always wanted to try, you already have a starting point on which to build. It could be something as simple as you liking wine, so embarking upon a wine tasting holiday might make sense. If you are the adventurous type and have always wanted to push yourself to the limit, you could take a whitewater rafting break.
It is always a good idea to research possible breaks to find out if they are suitable for you. For example, some short breaks will have an age limit and would not be suitable for a family with younger children, whereas, others will have facilities which specifically cater for children. The main thing when choosing a suitable activity break is to go for something which will excite you in some way and you will not be disappointed.

When it comes to activity breaks, hiking holidays must be pretty high on the agenda. In some ways they are the purest form of activity holidays you can embark on. By their nature, hiking activity holidays are all action from the very first second you embark upon them and they are sure to keep you fit and healthy, unlike a traditional holiday where you are more than likely to come back at least a few pounds heavier than you were when you left.
Hiking activity holidays do require a certain amount of physical ability and endurance. If you are very unfit, you should think hard before you book one and it is always a good idea, to step up your exercise regime and improve your fitness before you take off for your hiking holiday in any case.
Preparing for a hiking holiday with us, at Activity Breaks, is a little different from preparing for your average holiday and you may require extra equipment to aid you in your trip. Hiking can really put a strain on the feet so it is a good idea to invest in a decent pair of walking boots. Wear your boots around the home before your holiday to ensure you are very comfortable when hiking. You should also pack foot ointment in your luggage to help soothe tired feet if you intent to take an entire activity holiday devoted to walking!
Maps and GPS systems are great if you are hiking without a guide, but are probably not necessary when taking a guided walking tour. You should be sure to pack waterproof and warm clothing in order to prepare for all weather conditions.

Some of the best activity holidays are the ones where you combine your love of travel with other passions and interests you may have. Most of us have at least one musician or band that we really like and would love to see in concert as much as possible. Chances are that, at some point, your favourite musician will play in a city near your home where you can see them, but if you like to travel in Europe, you should consider taking activity holidays which allow you to see your favourite artists in concert abroad.
At Activity Breaks, we often have packages which include hotel accommodation and gig tickets to a wide range of popular artists, including hugely famous performers such as Muse and Tina Turner. Most of the packages for short breaks are flexible, and offer between 1 and 3 mights accommodation. The beauty of seeing your favourite bands abroad is that you get to explore the city they are playing in, as well as seeing a great show from people whose work you really love and admire.
The most popular destinations on activity holidays to attend a concert in Europe are probably Prague and Amsterdam, which are not only known for their excellent music scene, but also have a great night life and many excellent cultural landmarks and buildings to visit, too. You will have plenty to do in between your trip to the show and it will be much more exciting than seeing a band in your local area, where you have been a thousand times before. Weekend breaks can return you to feeling happy and healthy if you have been stressed out.

Gone are the days when ‘husbands to be’ were content with going down the local pub, getting blind drunk and being tied to a lampost on their stag night. Today’s stags expect more from their final days of freedom. They expect weekend breaks away with their friends, indulging in fun activities where they can bond and unwind before the big day. However, organising a weekend away and things to do in a foreign country can often be difficult and time-consuming. This is where we at Activity Breaks come in. We have compiled one of our best activity holidays for men yet.
Our stag break in Riga is the perfect way for husbands to be to spend a stag weekend with their friends. This weekend break package includes accommodation and the choice of two activities, including quad biking and the choice of either paint balling or indoor karting. Not only will fun activity holidays like this keep the men happy but it will also be a relief to the bride to be if she knows that her groom’s time will not solely be taken up by drinking, but will involve some good, clean and sober fun.
There probably aren’t many men on the planet who would not enjoy weekend breaks; running around like a child ’shooting’ his friends and riding around on motor vehicles for a couple of days is the best way to blow off steam. What’s more, there is even a barbecue thrown in along with a pub crawl on one of the nights, making for a truly memorable stag night.

When most people think about activity holidays, they think about active holidays such as walking tours or scuba diving breaks. However, some activity holidays available here at Activity Breaks are a little more gentle and sophisticated. If you prefer to spend your holiday sampling good food and drink rather than getting hot and sweaty in the great outdoors, a wine tasting break could be just for you. Wine tasting breaks can be taken in many European countries, but the majority of people opt to take part in wine tasting activities in either France or Italy.
Wine tasting is generally looked upon as a very sophisticated activity, and as such, there are some rules and conventions which should be followed when participating in a wine tasting event. If you book a wine tasting holiday with us, it is likely that the event will take place in a top quality wine bar where you will be treated to some of the finest wines in the region you are visiting. Learning about the culture and geography of a region can be very stimulating.
You will be met with an expert wine taster who will teach you the proper way to taste wine, as well as giving you some good advice on what to look for in a quality wine. Good wine tasting activity holidays will leave you with a lasting knowledge on fine wines and will help you to improve your pallet so that you will never be fooled into buying a less than perfect wine for any special event you are organising.

If you would like to try something different on your next holiday, cycling holidays could be just the thing for you and they are available here at Activity Breaks. Cycling tours are one of the best forms of activity holidays as they allow you to stay active and see the sights of your holiday destination all at the same time. Cycling is one of the best forms of exercise you can get and it is easily accessible to most of us, even if we do not exercise much. When you take cycling activity holidays, it is very unlikely you will be carrying any additional ‘holiday weight’ when you return home.
Usually, when we go on holiday, we spend most of our time sitting around and take in just a few of the most popular sights in the country we are visiting. However, with cycling activity holidays you get to see much more of the country than you usually would, and you have a great opportunity to find hidden gems that you never would have on a normal holiday. When you do not need to rely on public transport to get you from place to place, you free up more time to explore.
If you go on a guided cycling holiday, you can guarantee that you will see some exciting things and visit some interesting places. You will also be with an experienced guide, thus, virtually eliminating the chance of getting lost. Cycling holidays are great for meeting up with new people too.

Chromotherapy is sometimes known as colour therapy. It is used in many countries to help with many problems including stress and insomnia; at which it is particularly good at beating. Chromotherapy can be used to treat sleep disturbances of all kinds, whether they’re physical or mental.
Here at Activity Breaks, we offer an excellent chromotherapy spa break which takes place in a 4 star resort. These activity holidays can be taken between 1 and 14 days and provide an excellent opportunity to relax and sort out your sleep problems in a friendly and helpful environment.
Chromotherapy spa breaks involve a range of different treatments including massages, spa time and, of course, some colour therapy. Colour therapy involves many different processes which have been found to benefit insomnia sufferers. Spa breaks have always been effective for insomnia sufferers as they allow for maximum relaxation; free from the stresses which can so often keep us awake at night. The addition of chromotherapy, which has been used for many years and originated in India, can cure sleep disorders, and can only be a beneficial addition to the usual spa treatments which you would experience on spa breaks. Insomnia can have a very negative effect on both physical and mental health and, so solving the problem is essential to lead a healthier, happier life.
