Discover Paradise : Plitvice Lakes National Park

Croatia has eight national parks, the landscape flora and fauna in each park differs to provide the senses with an array of interesting sights. From craggy mountains, to sun baked islands in the sea and quaint little villages Croatia is a treasure trove of interest for the active traveller.

If you are a fan of walking holidays, Croatia is a fantastic place for you to enjoy a holiday on foot where you can really get to grips with the landscape and the culture of this beautiful country. One of Croatia’s most popular national parks is the Plitvice National park; the park covers over 50 acres of waterfalls, forests, and 16 turquoise blue lakes. The park is one of Croatia’s seven World Heritage sites and is famous for its lakes. The lakes look very inviting to take a swim in but unfortunately you are not allowed to swim but you can drink the water.

During the summer time the park is lush with greenery and birds. For those wanting to walk around the park there are specially designed wooden walk ways, not only do these protect the limestone karst that the park is formed on but they also give you great views! If you are thinking about your next walking holidays, Croatia is the place to go!
