Homecoming Scotland 2009 is celebrating Scotland's famous and great contributions to the world including the 250th anniversary of Robbie Burns.
Scotland is steeped in history and culture, which is why it makes it such an interesting place to visit. Home to the famous bard Robert Burns, Billy Connolly and good old Scottish whisky.
Scotland's well known capital city Edinburgh has endless things to see and do. Walking through Edinburgh's old town you really get the feeling you have stepped back in time and there are so many little interesting nooks to discover.
If you are a culture vulture check out the Doors Open Days event which gives us all the chance to have a sneak peak inside some of Edinburgh's most interesting buildings which are usually not open to the public.
Why not visit the magnificent galleries in Ediinburgh, if you visit the city before the 8th of November then make sure you go to see the Artist Rooms tour on display at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art featuring work from Vija Clemins, Ellen Gallagher and Francesca Woodman. The display also features photos from Andy Warhol and work from Damien Hirst to name but a few.
No trip to Edinburgh is complete without a walk up the Royal Mile to the famous castle. DID YOU KNOW? If you are among the first visitors at the castle each morning you will be welcomed across the drawbridge and through the gate by a lone Piper in full Highland Dress! So go to Edinburgh and get exploring!

Glasgow or The Merchant City as its also known is another destination for a brilliant night out on the town or for a day spent enjoying the breathtaking Victorian Architecture and great shopping.
The Merchant City Festival takes place this year from the 24-27th of September and features some of the Scottish greats in art and entertainment. The whole event is jammed packed with Theatre, comedy, fashion, art, food, dance, and loads more.
