Six Nations Rugby

Rugby 6 Nations

The Rugby Six Nations 2012 Fixtures have finally been announced.  The Friday night rugby has been ditched for 2012, with games only taking place on Saturday's and Sundays.  France will open the 2012 Six Nations at home with England closing it at Twickenham.

The Six Nations Championships is held annually throughout Europe and it is an international rugby union competition involving six European sides: England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales.  Each team has to play every other team once, with home field advantage alternating from one year to the next. Two points are awarded to each wining team, one for a draw and none for a loss.  If a team wins all their games, they will be announced as Grand Slam winners. A Triple Crown is a victory by any home nation over the other three home nations.

Activitybreaks are currently offering RBS Six Nations Packages in Rome, Dublin, Cardiff and Paris.

There are two Six Nations matches taking palce a the Olimpico Stadium in Rome. This Stadium is the largest sports facility of Rome and is located within the Foro Italico sports complex just North of the city.  Italy decided to move the six Nations from Stadio Flaminio as its is currently undergoing refurbishment.  It had hosted the event for the past 11 years since Italy's admission. Unfortunately Italy have never won the RBS Six Nations Grand Slam Title, since they have joined in 2000.  The Stadio Olimpico hold 72,000 so the matches this year will be very exciting with this larger crowd.

Rome is an excellent choice for a Rugby Six Nations Package, not only can visit the sites of this wonderful city but you can also enjoy the warm spring sunshine.  There is no need to squeeze into crowded pubs to get out of the cold and the rain....instead you can enjoy a cold beer on the sun terrace over looking a beautiful square.
