The sound of carollers, the aroma of spiced wine and the vision of twinkling lights – oh the Christmas season!
Christmas markets are the perfect place to embrace the spirit of the season, while getting a bit of shopping done! Eastern Europe is home to the traditional Christmas market; however, there are plenty of places throughout Europe to enjoy the holiday season.
The markets in Klagenfurt, Austria are a big attraction during the Advent season! With hand-made Christmas decorations, traditional crafts and delicious cakes there are plenty of gifts to bring home for friends and family.
Prague is the destination for travellers on a tighter budget. The city's markets can be found at Old Town Square, Wenceslas Square, Havelske Trziste and Namesti Republiky. A 2 night Prague city break with a private tour of the markets goes for as little as £67.
Many other European cities feature Christmas markets, such as Riga, Bratislava, Salzburg, Trier, Krakow, Venice and Wroclaw.
There are also options for those who wish to stay a bit closer to home. Glasgow, Dublin and London each have their own versions of the traditional Christmas market and loads of great shops to boot!
If you prefer a more active holiday, why not try a ski break over Christmas or New Years? However, if some members of you party would prefer to relax rather than ski, try a combination ski and spa break.
Whatever package you choose you're sure to have a wonderful winter holiday!
