The Arlberg Ski Area is famous around the world as a destination for serious skiers, and Lech is a key part of it. One of the few regions in the world to measure its unprepared trails as well as those mechanically groomed, the Arlberg claims 180km of ungroomed powder slopes on top of the 260km of prepared trails.
This breathtaking expanse is currently not quite lift-linked with St Anton, however a free ski bus for lift pass holders links the two. This is an exclusive spot for Austrian skiing. To maintain pristine slopes, only 14,000 skiers are allowed on the slopes at any one time.
The ski pistes, ski routes and open slopes are spread between 1450 and 2800 metres above sea level. With 84 cable cars and lifts, 260 km of well tended pistes and 180 km of open slopes, there is plenty of variety for every skier. Beginners have the choice of the gentle nursery slopes near to the slopes. Experts have a vast selection of off piste trails with guided tours, off piste and heli-skiing is also available.
Another 150 km of skiing is provided by the 'Arlberg Ski Pass'(this gives additional access to St Anton and St Christoph). Snow reliability is superb, while the skiing is mostly for intermediates.
