Arinsal is a long, narrow village of grey, stone clad buildings, near the head of a steep-sided valley north of Andorra la Vella. Development in the resort in recent years has been rapid. The small local area above Arinsal's gondola is a narrow, east facing bowl of open slopes. Pal's slopes, in contrast, are the most densely wooded of the Andorran resorts.
Terrain-Parks: Arinsal's big freestyle area claims to be the most radical in southern Europe. It includes a huge half-pipe, big jump, terrain park with spines, fun boxes, rails and quarter-pipes, boarder-cross and a chill-out area.
The mountains are not great for expert skiers. However, Arinsal does offer a reasonable range of difficulty and is suitable for intermediates. Around half the people who travel to the resort are beginners. There are gentle nursery slopes set apart from the main runs.
It is a good place to learn to snowboard. But over the half the lifts are drags and some are very difficult. Crash helmets are compulsory in the terrain park. There is no cross-county at Arinsal.
