St Anton is simply one of the greatest resorts in Europe.
It holds the crown of Europe's 'liveliest ski resort'. Featuring an expansive mixture of traditional and modern buildings crammed into a narrow valley. Although the resort can be crowded and is commercial, St Anton is full of character.
The main hub of the resort is around the bottom stations of the two stage cable car up via Galzig to Valluga Grat and the fast quad chair up to Gampen. St Anton's slopes fall into three main sectors: The major sector is the Valluga accessed by the cable car via Galzig. The tiny top stage of the cable car to the Valluga itself is mainly for sightseeing. The slightly lower station of Valluga Grat gives access to St Anton's famous high sunny bowls and to the long, beautiful red/blue run to Rauz. Beyond this valley, with lift and piste links in both directions, is the Gampen-Kapall sector.
Rendl is St Anton's only terrain park, it includes a half-pipe, quarter-pipe, jumps, rail slides and a washboard – some of which are now suitable for beginners. St Anton is not a great cross-country resort, but trails total around 35km/22 miles and snow conditions are usually good.
The vast ski area is excellent for expert skiers with many spine tingling off-piste descents and over 160km/100 miles of off-piste, ungroomed routes. There is plenty of skiing for all ability levels. St Anton is well suited to good adventurous intermediates. The resort has better nursery slopes now near the Fang lifts.
