Schladming is a pretty old town with extensive intermediate slopes and a traffic free main square. The resort is located between Pruggern and Haus on one side and Pichl Mandling on the other. All of these resorts have north facing slopes and many have invested in snow making.
Even though it is a fairly low altitude the snow is pretty reliable and the pistes are well looked after. In addition the lift system has been updated to increase accessibility.
Finally, in a side valley above Schladming are the ski areas of Ramsau and the year round lifts of the Dachstein Glacier. All are linked by a bus service which transports skiers with lift passes free of charge.
Schladming is one of the most boarder friendly resorts in Europe and suitable for those boarders who are still progressing. There is two terrain parks, two half-pipes and a boarder cross track.
The resort is not great for expert skiers but ideal for beginners.
