The ski slopes at Kasberg in Grünau in the Almtal valley cater in particular for families. This idyllic part of Salzkammergut is the ideal environment for children to take their first steps on skis. The Feuerkogel mountain towers high above the Traunsee lake. With snow being guaranteed as well as the stunning views, this Salzkammergut resort has become popular with all the family.

The soft, snow-covered peaks of the Böhmerwald form the backdrop to the Hochficht ski resort in Mühlviertel, right on the borders with the Czech Republic and Bavaria. Hochficht has FIS-pistes, used during the European Cup, which also cater for family-oriented skiing.

The Austrian resort of Kasberg is found in the Almtal Valley.  The Almtal with the villages of Gruenau, Scharnstein and St.Konrad is on the eastern border of the Salzkammergut.

The nearest international airports to the resort are Linz (163km), Graz (199km) and Salzburg (276km).

Apart from the ski resort, the Almtal can offer visitors to the region a wide variety of activities:

A 40 km langlauf loop winding through charming rural settings of the Almtal, the natural icing over of the Almsee lake, the popular 60 ha Cumberland Nature Animal Park with over 5 km of winter walking paths and animal feeding (open daily).

There are also numerous ice curling lanes, natural toboggan run and toboggan slopes, the Lorenz Research Centre (visitors are also welcome), horse drawn sledge rides and groomed walking tracks. The huge variety of leisure activities adds to the excitement and enjoyment of visitors to the region.
