The attractive twin villages of Saalbach and neighbouring Hinterglemm boast a vast interconnecting ski circus with an unbroken network of 55 lifts and up to nine access points within the picturesque Glemm valley. This area around Saalbach offers one of the best intergrated ski areas in Europe.
There is a good choice for beginners looking for a fun first holiday, the nursery slopes are beside the villages so you're never far from a pit stop if you need one and there are nine ski schools to choose from.
The skiing is perfect for the intermediate skier with long, wide and challenging red runs dominating the huge 200km ski area. The whole area can be skied by the confident intermediate and is all linked for easy exploration.
Experts can head for the north-facing Zw"lferkogel which has 3km black mogul descent. There is also 100km of off-piste terrain that you can try in the company of a local guide.
Floodlighting was recently introduced on the trails below the Unterschwarzach lift in the resort centre so that skiers and boarders can continue through from 6pm to 9.30pm each evening.
Both villages have an excellent snow record and enjoy close proximity to many of the ski lifts, ideally placed on both sides of the village.
