Location Information

Barcelona is located on the Costa Dorada in Spain and overlooks the Mediterranean.  It is the capital of Catalonia.

The city is well-served by land, sea and air links. Getting there is easy. Barcelona is just an hour and a half's drive away from France.

Barcelona is the arrival and departure point for flights from around the world. The airport is within easy reach of the city.  The airport is located 12 kilometres outside the city, direction south. Most European airlines, and many international ones, operate flights from Barcelona airport.

Top Ten Things to do in Barcelona:

1 - Las Ramblas: This unique, lively and colourful boulevard runs from Plaça de Catalunya down to the port, lined with newspaper and book stands, and interspersed with bird and flower stalls. Las Ramblas is a mile long and is bustling with tourists, artists, street performers, restaurants and the La Boqueria Market.

2 - Gaudi: Gaudí is the city's most internationally renowned and emblematic architect. His buildings are a must-see attraction which leave everyone who sees them speechless with wonder - The Sagrada Família temple in the city is Gaudí's most emblematic work. Park Guell is an English garden complex which is home to sculptures, tiling and buildings created by Gaudi himself. Guell Park has a terrace with great views of Barcelona. 

3 - Port, Barceloneta and Vila Olímpica: The Barceloneta is a traditional sailing and fishing district which is renowned for its fish and seafood restaurants. There area has some must see attractions such as L'Aquarium, The Olympic port, The IMAX Cinema and Barecloneta Beach. The beach is 15 a minute walk from Las Ramblas 

4 - Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC): See one of the world's most important collections of Romanesque and contemporary art at this Barcelona museum. It is a short walk to the Magic Fountain of Montjuic which preforms at night with lights, motion, music and colour. 

5 - Tibidabo Amusement Park: A magic mountain where you can enjoy exciting, fun rides and attractions. Located just 30 minutes north of Barcelona by shuttle bus.

6 - Parc de la Ciutadella: The park is the perfect place to relax and has a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere and pleasant attributes such as the spectacular waterfall, the pond, flower gardens, and an abundance of trees. Another area of the park is occupied by the large zoo.

7 - Montjuïc:  Barcelona's foremost cultural area with attractions such as the Museu d'Arqueologia, the Museu Etnològic, the Fundació Joan Miró, the Fundació Fran Daurel and the Fundació CaixaForum, which is housed in the old Casaramona factory. You can get a funicular to the top of the hill and visit the Montjuic Castle which houses the military Museum. If you walk down the hill you can walk past the Olympic stadium, which has free admission and a cafe. 

8 - Gothic Quarter: The remains of the Roman city survive here alongside the city's medieval buildings, witnesses to a splendid past.

9 - Barri de la Ribera: This district houses one of Barcelona's most visited museums, the Museu Picasso.
