Hiking Trips
There are a number of excellent hiking areas only a short distance from Salzburg. Please see details below.
* Mönchsberg
In middle of the city is this local recreation area with a lot of wonderful walks and
views to the city – you can walk e.g. from the fortress to the museum of modern art
and include also a visit there.
* Kapuzinerberg
Also in the city of Salzburg this mountain is well known for the forest stand.
There are also some interesting buildings like the Kapuziner monastery and the
calvary chapels as well as a Mozart memorial.
* Gaisberg
Just view minutes by public bus you need to reach the feet of the Gaisberg. There
are different trails as well as a beautiful loop road.
* Untersberg
To reach by public bus nr. 25 within 20 min.
It is a popular destination for a day trip and offers a great variety of hiking trails, the
cable-car operating all year, a ski-run, a biking round trip, demanding climbing routes,
charming ice caves, and comfortable shelters. The magic of the landscape is the
attracting factor.
