There are a number of excellent hiking trails that can be followed, here are just an example.
* Schmittenhöhe - Sisi loop road
More than 120 years ago empress Sisi was there to see a sunrise. In the Elisabeth chapel you find some photos as well as a hand signed photo of the empress. From there
you walk direction Panorama Pfiff where you have some Sisi display boards. Below the mountain station you see the unique panorama of more than 30 top peak mountains.
* Maurerkogel
You will start your hiking tour from the mountain station of the Schmittenhöhe. Absolute silence and beautiful views will enthuse you. After 2 hours of walking you
have reached the top of the Maurerkogel – from there you have a beautiful outlook to the national parc of the „Hohe Tauern“ and the „Kalkhochalps“.
* National parc hiking tour Austriaweg Nr. 716 – Zell am See - Kaprun
From the mountain restaurant of the Mooserboden/ heathen church in Kaprun you walk along the water supply dam. You will be impressed from the impressive abruption
of ice of the downflowing glaciers. Further on you have a wonderful panoramic sight over the Kaprun- and Stubach valley. Different possibilities how to continue the tour.
* Krimml Waterfalls
You have to take a bus to Krimml which is approx. 1 hour from Zell am See. The waterfalls are the hightest in Europe and wonderful hiking tours are possible there.
* Bramberg – Habach valley
You have to take a bus to Bramberg which is approx. 35 min. from Zell am See. We especially recommend to explore the Habach valley – this is the unique spot in Europe,
where you can find emeralds.
