Fiuggi:

Fiuggi is situated right in the heart of Italy just an 1 1/2 hour from Rome and Naples in Ciociaria, a fantastic region famous for its cultural history and unspoiled landscapes.

Fiuggi is classed as a spa town where you can enjoy pure air and thermal water. Over half of the Fiuggi municipal territory is covered by woods. There are extensive stretches of chestnuts and oaks, with lindens, maples, firs, pines and even sequoias that change colour with the passing of the seasons inventing new landscapes.

A few kilometres away from the town, there are the charming Canterno Lake and the green lawns of the Arcinazzo Plateaus and, a short way off, even mountain lovers may enjoy the striking views of Campo Catino and Campo Staffi. The medieval village of Fiuggi was most likely built around the year 1000, a time when many towns on the highest hills were fortified in order to defend themselves from the barbaric invasions. Protected by its city walls – nearly disappeared by now – Fiuggi is a series of small alleys, small squares, steep stairs and houses built one above the other. The presence over the centuries of the most important Roman families is witnessed by extremely interesting architectural vestiges, like the ancient Grandi, Martini and Alessandri manors.
