
Enjoy an introduction to Scottish Winter Climbing on this wonderful weekend package. You will learn all the skills required for climbing in the winter.
Whats Included:
The following schedule is for guidance only and will be amended to make the best use of snow and weather conditions. Each course is individually tailored to the needs and aspirations of the participants.
Itinerary
Day 1: FRIDAY
We arrive at the bunkhouse at 16:00hrs for an initial briefing at 17:00. Here we get to know each other and discuss prior experience and expectations of the course, we look at the weather forecast and avalanche reports and then decide upon climbing location for day 2.
Day 2: SATURDAY
Start the day with a good breakfast then head out in our vehicles to the area we decided to climb in. We spend today learning the basic skills of winter mountaineering; winter navigation, movement skills, ice axe techniques, crampon techniques, self-arrest and some basic types of belay construction and how to use them.
Day 3:SUNDAY
Today we head out into the mountains early (dark) and walk in to our agreed crag/route. Refreshing along the way the new skills learnt yesterday. Climbing all day with our guides and developing the skills needed for the winter.
Day 4: MONDAY
Today we rise for breakfast and pack our belongings, we say our good byes and you are free to set off home whenever you wish.

Important Note:
During the months of January/February the weather can be very cold in Scotland with a wind chill of minus 15 degrees. Please bear this in mind when packing as to how vulnerable you may be to the cold.

The Corran Bunkhouse is made up of two fully equipped self catering bunkhouses which between the two of them can offer comfortable accommodation for up to 32 people with one sleeping 12 and the other sleeping 20, making it an ideal base for larger or smaller groups as well as the individual traveller or family groups wanting to enjoy the many outdoor activities available in the area.
We have a range of rooms including 6 twin rooms,1 room consisting of 4 beds, 1 room consisting of 5 beds, 2 family/double rooms with a single bunk suitable for a family of 3 or disabled guests, 1 family room suitable for a family of 4. All our rooms are en-suite with colour televisions and a few of our family rooms also have there own fridge.
Both bunkhouses have fully equipped kitchen and dining area, drying rooms with laundry facilities available on request.
Whether you plan to fill your days with climbing, canoeing, Canyoning, skiing, walking, mountain biking, fishing or simply touring enjoying the spectacular scenery you can return to the Corran Bunkhouse and sooth away the aches of the day in our steam room.

The Corran Bunkhouse is located just North of Glencoe and south of Fort William in the area of Lochaber which has recently been crowned The Outdoor Capital of The UK so an ideal setting for all outdoor enthusiasts or maybe you would just like to take in our stunning west coast mountain scenery. The Corran Bunkhouse is situated in a stunning mountainous and loch side location in the magnificent Highlands of Scotland, only 8 miles south of Fort William and 7 miles north of Glencoe.
By Road
From the South: The Corran Bunkhouse lies on the Onich side of the Corran/Ardgour Ferry 8 miles south of Fort William on the A82 trunk road. We are approximately a 2 hour car journey North from Glasgow.
From the North: We are situated rust off the A82 which is the main trunk road to the Highlands from Inverness and the north east.
By Rail
The nearest Railway station is Fort William where a short bus or taxi ride down the shores of beautiful Loch Lhinne.
By Bus
Regular Buses arrive in Fort William from the south and Inverness in the east. Check the Citylink website for times and costs
By Plane
The most convenient airports are Inverness (80 miles) and Glasgow (210 miles)
Transfer time from Inverness 1 Hour 30 minutes approximately.
