The hotel lies 700 metres above sea-level on the slopes of the Tuscan hillside, within walking distance of a lovely medieval village. At this altitude you can enjoy a refreshing climate, even in the hottest summer months. From here there is a panoramic view of the seemingly endless untouched hilly landscape of the "Alta Maremma".
The Horse Riding package includes
- Accommodation in 3* Hotel Prategiano
- 1 Hour horseback riding per person per day (arrival and departure day excluded)
- Breakfast each morning
- Free use of the pools:
- Big pool open from 20th May - 16th September.
- Heated mini-pool (spa): open all season long (Closed for short periods due to maintenance at times)
Extra Riding Hours can be booked for an additional €22 per hour or €88 for a full day ride.
Additional meals and horseback rides can be booked during the holiday. You can choose between lessons, easy trail ride of one hour or half day or full day tours depending on your ability. The horses have a quiet and balanced character, are sure-footed and in good condition.
We recommend that that your bring your own hat and body protector otherwise you can rent a hat but correct size can not be guaranteed.
An example for a day ride:
Destination river "Merse: Overgrown fruit trees surround crumbling farmhouses and invite you for a fruit snack. Riding through the crystal waters of the Merse River, experience how nature has recaptured former agricultural land through the years. On warm days the high point is a swim for riders and horses in the river. After the picnic we visit the abbey ruins of San Galgano. Feel the indescribably mystical atmosphere around the standing remains of the Romanesque chapel, making this one of the most interesting visits.

The hotel is also an ideal base for non-riders. Well marked hiking and mountain bike trails start directly at the hotel and it is not far to the famous towns of Florence, Volterra, Pisa, Massa Marittima, San Gimignano or Siena or to one of the nicest beaches in Tuscany.
The horseback riding program is also suitable for children. Discount for the accommodation of children in double room.
What airport should I fly into?
Pisa is the most convenient (140 km) airport to visit this region. But you could also choose to fly to Rome. (270 km)

The family run 3* Hotel Prategiano has a total of 24 bedrooms, a restaurant, a bar and large living room area with beautiful views and large TV. Wi-Fi connection and Internet points are available free of charge to all guests. All the bedrooms have a shower, toilet, TV, security safe and electric kettle.
The restaurant serves Tuscan styled food and is based on simple and genuine dishes. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner. Dinner is a 3 course meal where you can choose from 2 dishes one of which is vegetarian or you may choose “a la carte” menu. Breakfast is served as a continental style buffet.
Outside you will find a perfect garden where you can enjoy a drink watching the sunset over panoramic views. Beneath this is a swimming pool and heated spa tub. The horse stables and yards are about 300m from the hotel.

Nearest Airport: Pisa : See Who Flies Here!
The 3* hotel is situated in a panoramic position in a quiet unspoiled region of Maremma Tuscany, half way between Sienna and the coast; within walking distance of the medieval village of Montieri.
Sienna (50km) and Massa Marittima (22km) can easily be reached by public bus. Additional excursions are possible if you have a car: Volterra (60km), Florence (90 km)
Transfer time from Pisa 2 Hours 0 minutes approximately.
Car Hire DirectionsTake the highway direction Grosseto/Roma direction south; exit Follonica "est". Drive direction Massa Marittima, sourround the Massa M., follow direction "Larderello/ Montieri". You find the hotel 1 km before Montieri uphill to the right.
