Slovenia's waters and aquatic life is a paradise for all anglers.  The Slovenia's rivers and lakes are habitat to 93 species of fish, 33 of these are protected.  Fly Fishing is a very popular method in Slovenia as it is known to do the least damage to the fish that are caught.

From the 1st April you will have access to Trout.  From the 1st May until middle of November you will have access to Grayling. Huchen Danube Salmon season is from 1st December until end of February.

Grayling: Is one of the most attractive of fish for Fly Fishers as it can be fished successfully throughout the season.  The average size in the best waters is around 40 cm, but we have heard some reports of some being caught that measure up to 50 cm and more. 

Hauchen or Danube Salmon: This fish is undoubtedly Slovenia's number one trout-like species in terms of its size.  In 2005 a respectable weight of 27kg was recorded.

Rainbow Trout: This active fish loves to take the fly and is also a good fighter.  It is know to grow up to 80 cm in lenght and can weigh up to 7 kg.
